In US news and current events today, this doctor was arrested for giving COVID-19 tests to the homeless population. Dr. Armen Henderson was arrested on April 10 while unloading medical supplies in front of his home. Henderson had gained notoriety for testing the homeless population in Miami for COVID-19 back in March. The arrest occurred while Henderson was reportedly unloading boxes filled with COVID-19 tests. The officer reportedly told Henderson’s wife that he had been handcuffed due to an ‘attitude’ towards the officer. After several exchanges, the officer eventually released him without taking him to the station. Henderson told Democracy Now! this was just one of many examples of the criminalization of homelessness and people of color.
