Determine Tempo and Line Up Stems in Pro Tools

Here’s a quick way in Pro Tools to import a folder of stems, find the tempo, and line up the tracks.
We’re gonna go fast, so rewind and re-watch anything you miss.
First Import the Audio Files
We want the drums to start at bar 3 because some instruments start earlier.
To find the tempo, play the track, turn off the Conductor, highlight the tempo, and tap the “T” key along with beat.
After a few taps, we’re at 85 beats per minute.
Now put the cursor on the kick track and press Tab.
Then press cmd-comma.
You should see a sync marker at the start of the first kick drum.
Locate the transport to bar 3.
Now hold shift and control and click with the grabber tool on the kick track to spot the first kick drum right to bar 3.
Let’s align the rest of the tracks with the kick track.
Highlight the kick track, press and hold control, and click on each audio region to spot them each to start with the kick file.
Remember to rewind and re-watch anything you missed.
