On this Friday the 13th, which lies under a full moon this year for the first time in 19 years, today we celebrate something very special.

50 years ago today, a cartoon premiered on CBS that's about a group of teenagers and a talking dog who get into crazy mishaps and scary shenanigans while solving mysteries. The series "Scooby-Doo, Where are You?" lasted for only 2 seasons but gradually over time it grew into a franchise. Not just a franchise, but one of the most beloved and iconic animated franchises in history.

Scooby, Shaggy, Fred, Daphne, and Velma are all amazing characters who work together, and face their fears, to solve a mystery and capture a monster or ghost. And whether that monster or ghost is some guy in a fake yet creepy costume and mask or a real and deadly creature that can kill people, Mystery Inc. is strong and no matter what or when, they keep on solving mysteries all over the globe and even save the world.

They're more than just mystery solvers, they're real heroes!

The franchise developed into numerous TV series, and a shit-ton of direct-to-video films that are still going! But throughout those 50 years, no matter which incarnation it is, those meddling kids still stay fresh and groovy and I'm very happy to have grown up with Scooby-Doo and to have the privilege of celebrating the franchise's 50th anniversary.

Now I feel like having some Scooby Snacks. lol
