Kapalbhati in details
Kapalbhati Pranayama is a type of yogic breathing technique that involves forceful exhalations through the nose while the inhalation is passive.
The word Kapalbhati is derived from two Sanskrit words, 'Kapal' meaning skull or forehead, and 'Bhati' meaning shining or illuminating.
Thus, Kapalbhati Pranayama is believed to bring about a bright and radiant glow to the face and forehead.
To perform Kapalbhati Pranayama, follow these steps:
Sit comfortably in a cross-legged position with your spine straight,
and place your hands on your knees in the chin mudra (thumb and index finger touching) or gyana mudra (thumb and index finger touching, other fingers extended).
Take a deep breath in, expanding your abdomen.
As you exhale forcefully through your nose, contract your abdominal muscles, and pull your navel towards your spine. The exhalation should be short and quick, like a puff of air.
Relax your abdominal muscles and let the inhalation happen naturally.
Repeat this process for 10-15 rounds, gradually increasing the speed and intensity of the exhalation.
After completing the rounds, take a few deep breaths and relax.
Benefits of Kapalbhati Pranayama:
1.Helps to improve digestion and metabolism.
2.Helps to reduce stress and anxiety.
3.Helps to strengthen the abdominal muscles.
4.Helps to improve lung capacity and respiratory function.
5.Helps to improve concentration and mental clarity.
It is important to note that Kapalbhati Pranayama should be practiced under the guidance of a trained yoga teacher, especially if you are a beginner or have any health issues. It is not recommended for pregnant women, people with high blood pressure, heart disease, or any other medical condition without consulting with a doctor.
