2025 Old School Kingfish Shootout (Fishing Tournament)

Описание: It's the Old School Kingfish Shootout fishing tournament! This tournament is fished out of St. Augustine Florida and is a fishing tournament that attracts nearly 700 boats! The tournament is to see how can catch the largest King Mackerel but it has a twist. Fishermen must fish in state waters, which limits us to within 3 miles of the beach. We can fish just past Ponce inlet and a little farther North than the St. Mary's inlet. It's a fun tournament and we'll be fishing with live bait to try to catch a big Kingfish so follow along with us.

Fishing gear we use:

We use a mix of rod and reels but generally they are 20 class reels for holding 400 to 500 yards of 20 lb mono, with an 8 foot leader of 25 lb or 30 lb flouro, and then about 18" of 60 lb seven strand wire to keep the sharp teeth of the kingfish from biting through. I like to use a stinger rig, where there is a small #2 j-hook that goes into the nose of the bait and then a #6 or #4 treble hook that trails behind in case the Kingfish short strikes the bait.
