Okay... my "Selections from the Solo Albums" playlist is done!! All songs selected in this playlist had basslines that were either performed by Ace Frehley (since Gene didn't play bass at all on his own solo album) OR... they have been performed live by KISS with Gene on bass at least once (according to setlist.fm).

Now onto the next studio album:

DYNASTY (1979)

I've been looking forward to this one. First full album by KISS since Love Gun. KISS chose "Dynasty" as the name for the album in an attempt to squash the rumors that the solo albums were a result of turmoil in the band. They wanted to prove that KISS was still intact and was still one big happy family. Of course, that was a lie. The band really WAS coming apart at the seams and that's EXACTLY why the solo albums happened (lol), but that's Gene and Paul for ya. Peter's last tour with KISS was the Dynasty Tour and he actually only plays drums once on the record... his own song. Obviously, anyone reading this probably knows all of this already (haha)... but I felt the need to mention it since Dynasty marks such a major moment in KISS-tory. The band is hanging by the skin of its teeth, they are noticeably changing from hard rock to mainstream pop and will continue on that path for the next album too, until they crash into a brick wall with the DRASTICALLY different concept-album, "The Elder". Haha. Dynasty is the beginning of the end of an era. For that reason, KISS fans either love Dynasty or they hate it. I love it. It's a total nostalgia bomb for me.

RED = Challenging
PURPLE = Moderate
BLUE = Mostly Basic (but with some moderate sections)
GREEN = Basic (all the way through)
