UK to purge Huawei technology from 5G networks by 2027

UK Digital Minister Oliver Dowden announced on Tuesday that Her Majesty's Government would be committing to a timetable to remove Huawei equipment from its 5G network by 2027.
Dowden said that the move would be part of the Telecoms Security Bill and once passed, telecom operators would not be legally allowed to buy 5G equipment from Huawei.
China on Tuesday said on Tuesday it was "paying close attention" to the move by the UK and questioned if it was "not possible to provide a business environment for Chinese companies in Britain that is open, fair and free from discrimination. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian added that the move was a "touchstone" of the direction of the post-Brexit British market.
