A political gathering in Benin City, Edo State, turned chaotic when gunshots were reported during an event attended by former presidential candidate Peter Obi and members of the Obidient Movement. The incident occurred as a political figure’s defection to the African Democratic Congress was being formally announced. Shots were fired as the convoy moved from the party secretariat to the residence of a former national party chairman. Some vehicles were damaged, but Mr Obi and other leaders were unharmed.
