Last week, the County of Grande Prairie partnered with Alberta Wildfire, Provincial Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) teams, and fire departments from across Alberta for specialized training in ground ignition operations.
This program prepares crews for hazard reduction burns, large-area ignitions, and controlled operations during wildfire events in both rural and urban areas.
By learning to “fight fire with fire,” this initiative strengthens their collective ability to protect communities and reduce wildfire risks across the region.
