Описание: The Cape Overberg is situated in the southernmost region of South Africa and is one of the six regions in the Western Cape province.

The singularly unique experience of witnessing the meeting of the mighty Atlantic and Indian Oceans at Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of the African continent, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

As part of the World Heritage Site Cape Floral Kingdom, the region is rich in fynbos, which in turn offers many walking and hiking experiences and turns it into a bird-watchers’ paradise.

The Overberg region is blessed with remarkable floral variety. It is covered with fynbos, characterised by proteas, ericas and the russet reeds that carpet the damp lowlands. The best flower displays usually occur from August to mid-October. Weather patterns, particularly hot berg winds, determine the duration of the flower season.

The rich history in the Cape Overberg is depicted in museums, some of which occupy an entire village. Among others are the Fishing and Shipwreck museums and one of the only Apple Museums in the world that is situated in the Elgin Valley.

Midway between Hermanus and Gansbaai is Stanford, situated on the banks of the Klein River. Stanford's surrounding valleys feature numerous vineyards, an award-winning cheese maker and a micro-brewery.

Overberg is a region that stretches along coasts with beautiful beaches, and over mountain ranges with interesting geological formations. There is an abundant birdlife here. Memories from the past – as illustrated by Overberg’s rich collection of mission stations, ship wrecks and old architectural treasures – exist harmoniously with new developments in towns, ensuring visitors find all they need.
