My name is Gabriele, and I've built a ton of startups my whole life, like almost 20 to 25. And as a startup, I mean, like, apps, web apps, software that I've tried to monetize in some way. And a big part of it is the idea. Right? Because if people don't like the idea, people don't find your product useful, they will never actually, you know, pay for it or be on your website or add up to your use account, if that makes sense.

Right? And it's really important to be able to validate ideas really quickly to determine whether something is worth pursuing or not. Because a bad idea can take away months, if not years of your life. And that has happened countless times to me. The first product that I built, I wasted maybe like three, four months on just to find out that no one actually wanted it.

And the first concept is very, very simple and you hear it all the time, but you actually need to solve a problem for people. No one likes vitamin products. And I think it's something that Mark Liu talked about in one of his videos that I really like the way he explained it. They were like, your product should not be a vitamin product. It should literally solve a problem for people.

So you get to think about it as painkillers and not something that just makes their experience slightly better. And and this is very obvious. Like, if you actually build your product, you will know whether you're just making a slight improvement or solving a specific problem. And the only issue is that most problems have been solved or there is a solution out there for the problem. And that doesn't mean you shouldn't pursue it.

And instead of going with the approach of, oh, yeah. I'm just gonna make your experience with this a little bit better. Go with the approach that I'm gonna solve this problem the same way this other company does it, but I'm gonna do it in a better way. And that's a very, very different than saying, I'm gonna make your experience doing this thing that you're you're already enjoying doing a little bit better. So chasing validated ideas is the easiest way to actually solve problems that people want and determine whether it is something worth pursuing.

But you can also decide, I wanna come up with something completely original. And there are a few different ways can test this idea. And this will usually happen when you're working with social apps, marketplace apps, or just like stuff that's not necessarily like a small SaaS or small, app that you're just trying to make money from. Something that has a larger vision. And the easiest way to to do this is to get as many people's input on it as possible, which is, you know, very obvious when I say it like this.

But we're talking not talking about, like, you know, 10 people, 20 people. We're talking about hundreds of people, thousands of people. Because a lot of times when you go to your friends and family to pitch an idea and they tell you, this is never gonna work. It doesn't actually mean that. It just means they're not the target audience or they're not the right person.

So you actually have to decide. You have your idea. You have to figure out who would actually want this and who is my client. And that is probably gonna be a very small demographic and it should be a relatively small demographic for most products. Unless you're building again a social event for college students or something.

And what you need to do is pitch your idea to these people. And depending on how large your demographic is, that's gonna determine how many people you should pitch it to. If you're building a product for all college students, it's gonna look a lot different than if you're building a product for, you know, people that are going into law school, for example. Right? Or people that are going to take the LSAT or something.

So let's start with an example. If you're building the next social app for college students, how do you actually validate whether this is going to work and your concept is going to work? The easiest way is to actually build a landing page. And what you want to do is start marketing efforts to lead people to your landing page. To actually determine whether people are interested.
