I decided to remove the secondary throttle plate from the throttle body. Apparently this is one of the best mods you can do on the klx 300 and it’s free.
You can either remove the entire throttle body from the engine and work on it on your bench or do it on the bike. I didn’t want to remove the throttle body, so i decided to do the mod whilst it’s on the bike.
You have to remove the boot from the airbox to the throttle body and then you need a JIS #1 Phillips bit. If you are lucky and the screw head isn’t stripped, it should be easy to remove the screw to remove the plate.
In my case, the screw head was already stripped so i had to drill out the screw. I used two very strong magnets, one on either side of the plate to catch all the shavings.
