On 23 July 2014, 6,500 athletes and officials from 71 nations and territories, 15,000 volunteers and one very special host city and host nation were ready to welcome and inspire the Commonwealth.
The Opening Ceremony started at 20.14 and featured exceptional performances, a very special moment for children in partnership with UNICEF and an inspiring and exuberant celebratory parade of the Commonwealth athletes; heralding 11 days of incredible sporting competition.
Two years have passed but the moment lives on, and here is our tribute to that defining Glasgow moment.
