Описание: "Avulekile Amasango" is a South African song traditionally sung at funerals to celebrate the life of the deceased and her passage into the next life. Talisman first heard this song while on tour in Cape Town in 2008. One morning at our hotel, we were awoken by the sound of singing, and rushed downstairs to see who it was. We found the cleaning staff of hotel processing through the driveways and paths, singing joyfully and beating on improvised percussion instruments. We eagerly joined them; we sang with them, sang for them, and learned some of their songs, including "Avulekile Amasango." Upon our return to the States, Christina Ho (Director '07-'08) created a formal arrangement of the song for Talisman, and we used it to open our spring show, "Sindawonye." It was recorded that same year.
