Italy’s shiny new flag carrier is ready for takeoff – but what really hides behind the stylish cabin and polished branding? In this review of ITA Airways’ A320neo from Zurich to Rome, we take a closer look at the airline that rose from Alitalia’s ashes. One flight, plenty of surprises. Buckle up – it’s not what you’d expect.

Video Description:
In this ITA Airways review, we take off from Zurich and head south to Rome aboard a brand-new A320neo – but this flight is about more than just getting from A to B. Born from the remains of Alitalia, ITA Airways is Italy’s bold attempt to rebuild its aviation reputation from scratch. But can a fresh paint job and Lufthansa’s investment fix decades of bureaucracy, inefficiency, and, well... Italy? Let’s just say: not everything is as smooth as the cabin design by Walter De Silva. From ticket tricks and skiplagging quirks to onboard surprises and crew vibes, this flight review blends honest impressions with some subtle irony and a lot of curiosity. You’ll see what ITA gets right, what still feels a bit too “classic Italian,” and what sets this airline apart from budget rivals like EasyJet or Wizz Air.
About ITA Airways (from Wikipedia):
Italia Trasporto Aereo S.p.A. (pronounced [iˈtaːlja traˈspɔrto aˈɛːreo]), doing business as ITA Airways, is the flag carrier of Italy. It is owned by the government of Italy via the Ministry of Economy and Finance and Lufthansa Group. The airline was founded in 2020 as a successor to the bankrupt Alitalia. The airline flies to over 70 scheduled domestic, European, and intercontinental destinations. Its main hub is Rome Fiumicino Airport near Rome and a focus city is Linate Airport near Milan. In 2025, ITA Airways initiated the alliance change: on 3 February the airline ended its membership in SkyTeam to join Star Alliance in 2026 as part of the integration into the Lufthansa Group.
