California Storm Series Incoming: Heavy Rain, 100 MPH Wind, Mountain Snow, King Tides Wet RoseParade

Описание: A multi-day storm series is lining up across California and the West Coast, lasting through the weekend and possibly beyond. Several waves will bring widespread rain, strong winds, mountain snow, King Tides, and coastal impacts.

Many areas could see 3–5 inches of rain, with locally higher totals, while wind gusts may approach 80–100 mph in exposed locations. Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories are in effect, with snow levels running a bit higher, but still feet of snow piling up at higher elevations.

This storm will also impact Southern California events, including the Rose Parade, which is expected to be rained on — a rare occurrence, happening only twice in the last 50 years.

While impactful, this storm series is beneficial overall. Roughly 30–50% of California’s annual rainfall comes from Atmospheric Rivers, and this pattern includes important breaks between systems, helping rivers, reservoirs, and snowpack without overwhelming everything at once.

We’ll also track King Tides from Thursday through Saturday, with water levels peaking near 7.5 feet at the Golden Gate Bridge, followed by a drop to –1.4 feet, creating an extreme ~9-foot tidal swing — a big deal for coastal flooding and erosion.
