With a bit of noodling around I managed to get ICQ working in 2025. One instance of the program is running on as a WinXP SP3 x86 virtual machine under Hyper-V. The other instance in the video is running locally on my Win10Pro machine.
Someone has managed to reverse engineer enough of the old server protocol to setup his own server. Just connect to it at icq.byte5.com.br and you can create a user. A lot of the functionality of the user index no longer work (that would take a ton of work no doubt and patching of the original executable).
