For this run I decided to revisit a game that I haven't looked at in an awfully long time. This is OpenBVE, which is a freeware Train Simulator that has been around for at least 10 years.
As you can see from the title, we are on the Waterloo and City Line for this video. We start in the sidings at Waterloo. Then it's off to Platform 25 to pick up the passengers before heading along the 1.5 mile line to Bank. Our traction for this run is the 1992 tube stock, previously known as Class 482.
Interestingly the OpenBVE version of the W&C is not set in the present day. It's actually set in the early 2000s, when the 1992 stock still had Network Southeast livery (albeit with Underground roundels) and when Waterloo was still served by Eurostar trains.
The Class 482 (or 1992 stock) was built by ABB Derby in 1993. The class consisted of ten 2-car units (marshaled into five 4-car sets), and were built as direct replacements for the Class 487's, which were introduced to the W&C in 1940. These new trains were originally painted in Network Southeast livery, albeit without yellow ends. This was due to the W&C being entirely underground and completely seperate from the rest of the National Rail network.
After the transfer of the Waterloo & City line to the London Underground on the 1st of April 1994, the Class 482's were essentially reclassified as 1992 tube stock, as they were almost identical to the 1992 stock on the Central Line. The units retained NSE colours until 2006, when they were sent off to be refurbished.
