19th William Pitt Seminar: Boomer or bust: Addressing intergenerational conflict

Описание: From Boomer to Alpha, a new set of labels has arisen to describe the different generations and seemingly pit them against each other. The time in which you are born is expected to define your attitudes, perceptions, behaviours and values. Now more than ever, the perceived conflict between generations is coming to the fore. An ageing population, a weakened economy and a planet in peril all add to the premise that older generations have had it good while the young suffer.

Many commentators have discussed intergenerational fairness through the lens of the economy and climate change, but what is the effect of age-based friction on society and on individuals? How do we encourage the generations to work together on the big challenges facing us in the years and decades to come? The 19th William Pitt Seminar will consider how to bridge the divide between young and old to create a fairer and more successful society.

The 19th William Pitt Seminar will be hosted by Deborah Prentice, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge, as well as an all-female panel to celebrate 40 years since the admission of women at Pembroke in 1984.
