In this video, an execution example of the Trickle Algorithm, standardized as RFC 6206 is presented.
The Trickle Algorithm is used in many technologies (e.g., THREAD, Wi-SUN) and protocols (e.g., MPL RFC 7731, RPL RFC 6550):
1. Multicast Protocol for Low-Power and Lossy Networks (MPL): Thread uses MPL to forward with controlled flooding the Mesh Link Establishment (MLE) messages.
2. Routing control traffic: e.g., in RPL, sending routing control messages when topology changes; use Trickle to suppress stable-state DIO control messages.
