Russia's United Aircraft Corporation has posted video of a test firing of the cannon for the fifth-generation Sukhoi T-50 (T-50 PAK-FA) stealth fighter jet. It shows the NNPU-50 cannon being fired at a range outside Moscow, the Tass news agency reported Monday.
The mounting included a 9-A1-4071, one of the lightest cannons of that type that can fire up to 150 30mm bullets during one sortie. That cannon is an upgraded version of the GSh-301 30mm auto cannon mounted on Russia's MiG-29, Su-27, Su-30, Su-33 and Su-35 fighters, as well as frontline bombers and the Yak-38 vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. The Sukhoi T-50 PAK-FA fighter jet took its maiden flight in 2010.
