"As the diplomatic tensions between India and Canada persist, Indian parents are growing increasingly concerned about the safety and future of their children residing in Canada. They are calling for both governments to engage in bilateral talks to resolve the ongoing dispute. Kuldeep Kaur, a resident of Amritsar, expressed her worries, saying, 'I have two daughters who have been living in Canada for the past five years and are pursuing permanent residency. We are anxious, and we urge both governments to work together to find a solution.' Another resident, Jagdish Kaur, added, 'My son has recently moved to Canada for his studies, and I am extremely anxious. We invested a significant amount of money in his education, and they should come to a resolution. We are in constant contact with him, and he is also very stressed.' The deterioration in India-Canada relations followed Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's allegations against India regarding the involvement in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, which were deemed 'absurd' by India. This escalating diplomatic discord has raised concerns about the future of bilateral cooperation between the two nations. Canada faces potential economic consequences if Indian students decide to leave the country. Indian parents, predominantly from Punjab, have made substantial investments in their children's education in Canada. According to Khalsa Vox, Punjab contributes a staggering Rs 68,000 crore annually to Canada's economy. In the previous year, Canada approved a total of 226,450 visas, with approximately 1.36 lakh students coming from Punjab. These students pursue various courses with an average duration of two to three years. Current data from student visa processing agencies indicates that approximately 3.4 lakh Punjabi students are currently studying across Canada."
