As the Need for Speed: Rivals online servers come to an end, it’s the perfect time to remind ourselves why this game remains so special. Beyond the obvious — the most intense police chases in NFS history — Rivals is simply a joy to drive around. Its stunning open world and spectacular weather effects still put many modern games to shame, even 12 years after its release. The atmosphere is unmatched, much like so many classics from that era. With mods like NFS Rivals Evolution, the game looks even better today. Hopefully, one day modders will bring the servers back so we can all experience Rivals the way it was meant to be played.
