Housing in Northern Virginia is 100-200% higher than the national average. Northern Virginia is a very dense area and it's growing more every year.

Taxes in Northern Virginia are ranked number 11 in the country for state and local income taxes. Virginia is also assesses a personal property tax for vehicles.

Traffic in Northern Virginia and the Washington DC area has some of the worst traffic in the country. Washington DC and Northern Virginia has constant traffic congestion. There are six different toll roads within Northern Virginia and the cost can really add up. This can often be a factor in deciding where to live in Northern Virginia.

Northern Virginia does have metro rail access, and bus access, but there are many places that need improving and don't have access. Public transportation is available but needs to be considered when deciding where to live if you plan need access.
