In the film DETRANSITIONERS – A EUROPEAN TRAGEDY, members of the European Parliament and the European Commission are featured. In their speeches, they argue that detransition is virtually nonexistent. That it's a result of social pressure and a lack of support, that transitioning is vital for suicide prevention, that self-determination is paramount, that hate speech and obstacles silence trans people, and so on.

In contrast, there are the sincere, heartfelt testimonies of detransitioners. The contrast couldn't be greater. Their stories—how they believed in transition, what brought them insight, and how they move forward with a damaged body—elicit our admiration and are a reality that needs to be heard.

After watching the film, you feel a sense of alienation. The words of the detransitioners resemble those of wise old men, and those of the Members of the European Parliament resemble those of jesters. It is the price they paid for a painful life lesson. What they sought and didn't find—love and security—was not met with transition. They discovered their naiveté and the lie that alienated them from their bodies. Why did no one tell them the truth? Where was love in the amputation of their healthy body parts? Where was love in the destroying of their sexual function? Where was the love in the war with themselves?
