PPG WAVE 2.2 | Ambient Pads & Soundscapes 【SYNTH DEMO】

Описание:    / synth4ever   - Ambient synth demo of the PPG Wave 2.2 digital / analog hybrid synthesizer, filmed at the Synth Palace in Montreal, Quebec Canada (www.synthpalace.com or .net).

The PPG Wave was built by the German company Palm Products GmbH (now Waldorf) from 1981 to 1987. The PPG Wave synths use digital samples of wavetables and feature analog VCA envelope and VCF (filter) sections for a classic and warm sound.

The PPG Wave was produced in 3 different models:

1. Wave 2 (1981–1982) - 8 oscillators (one per voice), 8-bit resolution, single modulation wheel, CEM 3320 VCFs

2. Wave 2.2 (1982–1984) - 16 oscillators (two per voice), 8-bit resolution, dual modulation wheels, SSM 2044 VCFs

3. Wave 2.3 (1984–1987) - 16 oscillators (two per voice), 12-bit resolution, dual modulation wheels, SSM 2044 VCFs, 8-part multimbrality

This synth demo features some ambient sounds, patches and presets from the PPG Wave 2.2 synthesizer including pads, S&H modulation and LFO tweaking.

All sounds are from the PPG Wave 2.2 synth with no external effects.

Ambient music:
As a genre, ambient focuses on creating a mood or atmosphere through synthesizers and timbral qualities. It often lacks the presence of any net composition, beat, or structured melody. Due to its relatively open style, ambient music often takes influences from many other genres, ranging from house, dub, industrial and new age, amongst several others. Since it is a relatively ambiguous term, ambient has no distinct characteristics, and its style can vary a great deal. In essence, it is a term to describe any form of electronic music which puts an emphasis on tone and atmosphere over traditional musical structure or rhythm. Ambient music is often highly conceptual and experimental in style, while it is said to evoke an "atmospheric", "visual" or "unobtrusive" quality.
