By now you’ve worked through WSET/CMS frameworks and a ton of genetics. Now we teach you our How to Drink Wine tasting method — designed to bridge both systems, make you faster + more accurate, and stay transferable no matter which exam (or wine career path) you’re aiming for.

Most tasting grids start with the nose. We flip it.

Because let’s be honest: every white wine has some apple, and every red wine has some cherry. Fruit descriptors alone won’t tell you if you’re in Pinot Noir or Nebbiolo until you taste it. So in this method, you start with structure and key indicators on the palate to narrow the field quickly — then you use aromatics and fruit to refine and “sell” the wine in real-world language.

What you’ll learn in this lesson:
• Why starting on the palate makes blind tasting more efficient
• The “horse race” technique: grapes aren’t “out”… they just move forward or fall back with each clue
• How the grid is ordered for speed:
Color → Sweetness → Acid → Alcohol → Oak → key indicators (pyrazines/rotundone/terpenes/lees) → fruit → ripeness → other markers (TDN, botrytis, mallow, oxidation, earth/minerality, etc.)
• How to use the method for CMS, WSET, buying programs, or everyday tasting
