This webinar presented on February 21, 2018 covers jq - a scripting language that brings much of the power of programs like sed and awk to processing JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) data. The underlying library has been embedded into various parts of perfSONAR and can be used to transform or make decisions about data being handled by the system such as task requests and measurement results. This gives administrators and end users the ability to make perfSONAR behave in very sophisticated ways without having to modify the software or, in some cases, develop and install specialized plug-ins. Also available as a command-line tool, jq is useful for processing JSON data outside of perfSONAR.
