Описание: Welcome to another episode of our Midwest Garden Pros Series. Today, we are looking at native grasses, as they enter their late summer prime! Most of the grasses that we will be looking at today are warm season grasses, which means they need the warmer weather of later spring and early summer to begin actively growing. Once warmer temperatures arrive, they will begin to push new foliage growth, followed by flowering and seed set in summer to early fall. As they thrive in hot conditions, most warm season grasses prefer full sun and are well adapted to drought; in fact, too much water will often cause them to flop over. Let’s take a look at a few specific species! In this episode we'll talk about: Bouteloua curtipendula, or Sideoats grama, Sporobolus heterolepis, or Prairie Dropseed, Schizachyrium scoparium, or Little Bluestem, Panicum virgatum, or Switchgrass, Koeleria macrantha, or Prairie Junegrass.
