Using Grumbacher soft pastels given to me by my art teacher in high school, this video honors that gift and so much more that opened the world to who i truly am. Mr. C, we simply saved my life. Thank you 🙏🏼❤️
Mr. C taught me so much about art, but more importantly, he taught me how to feel safe. This safety that he showed me allowed me to grow, and even though it took 30 years for me to feel safe enough, I eventually became brave enough to embrace my idiopathic hirsutism. In other words, I was able to set aside my fear and brace the fact that I am a bearded woman.
Without mentors like Mr. C, I would have stayed hidden and denied my authentic self.
