LOVE LIES LOST Helen Terry, ''Countdown'' 1984

Описание: During Helen Terry's final world tour with Culture Club, she and the band appeared on Australia's answer to "Top Of The Pops": "Countdown". The majority of the episode was devoted to Culture Club, and they performed several singles of their own, with footage from an appearance at a shopping mall and interview portions peppered in between. But the highlight for many was this performance- one of the very few times Helen performed anywhere in the world on television as a solo artist. Just a few nights later she would perform her last concert with Culture Club, immortalized on the TV special "Colouring Down Under" broadcast via satellite nationwide and on radio to millions of listeners. That concert was released on DVD several years ago, re-titled "Live In Sydney".

The song was written by Helen, with Boy George and Roy Hay, and instruments were played by Roy, Jon Moss, and members of Culture Club's live band- Steve Grainger, and Ron Williams. Backing vocals on the B-side ("Laughter On My Mind") were an uncredited Boy George.

The single itself cracked the UK top 40 in May of 1984, (peaking at #34) and was her highest placement in the UK charts. It matched that placement exactly in Australia, and went slightly higher, to #28, in Ireland. It did not chart anywhere else in the world, but was released in several European countries and in South Africa. In the UK it was released on 7", 7" picture disc, and 12" single- featuring the "extended" version on side two, but it was really more of a dub mix. Other territories re-titled that mix "Love Lies Dub" rather than "Love Lies Lost (Extended Mix)".
