Описание: In this B1 English grammar lesson, we focus on past time words used with the past per-fect:
already, just, and never … before.
You will learn how to use these time words to show when something happened in relation to another moment in the past, and how they are commonly used in real newspaper sto-ries.
In this lesson, you will learn:
• when to use already to emphasise that something happened before a particular time in the past
When we got there, the film had already started.
• when to use just to show that something happened only a short time before another past event
Unfortunately, the train had just left when we got to the station.
• how never … before is used to talk about a first experience
I had never eaten Mexican food before.
• the correct word order with the past perfect:
o already and just come between had and the past participle
o never comes between had and the past participle, while before comes at the end of the clause
This lesson is ideal if you:
• are preparing for B1 or B2 exams
• want to improve your accuracy when telling past stories
• often hesitate between already, just, and before
