India has added another milestone to its environmental conservation journey! Glaw Lake in Arunachal Pradesh has been designated as India's 101st Ramsar Site under the Ramsar Convention, becoming the first Ramsar Site in Arunachal Pradesh.
Located inside the Kamlang Tiger Reserve and Wildlife Sanctuary, Glaw Lake is a pristine freshwater wetland in the Eastern Himalaya Biodiversity Hotspot. The lake supports over 150 tree species, 49 orchid species, rare wildlife, and numerous migratory birds, making it one of India's ecologically significant wetlands.
With this recognition, India now has the highest number of Ramsar Sites in Asia and the third-highest in the world, after the United Kingdom and Mexico.
