Over 3000 residents of Joshimath, a sinking Himalayan town, have been moved into relief camps after local authorities declared the region disaster-prone last week. Locals blame unscientific development cause of the disaster.
"We think the NTPC tunnel is behind it," Sunaina, a resident of Joshimath, said. She is referring to the 12-kilometre tunnel, National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) dug just over a kilometre away from the city which involves frequent construction explosions.
