Sunshine pop was a very melodic music style in the mid-60s characterized by orchestral arrangement, the boy-harmony vocals popular at the time and an altogether sunny and whimsical atmosphere (so impressions from psychedelic music were not uncommon). The style had its origins in California, perhaps as an escapist reaction to the tumult around the changing social climate at the time: While much of the US psychedelic music lifted up peace and love as well, it was still characterized by a confusing and paranoid ''fuck they're gonna take me to Vietnam man'' feel. In sunshine pop it was all about inviting listeners to an aggression-less and innocently simple world, without lacking musical depth tough; usually the songs didn't rely on stock-sounding melodies but rather very elaborate and original such.
