The selections made reflect the major themes of existential reality – eternal life manifesting in cyclicality and dualities, the layered consciousness and the arc of its trajectory, the keys to wholesome living, all embedded in the web of cosmic oneness and reflected in the human embodiment of awakening.

Shaykh Saadi Shakur Chishti (Neil Douglas-Klotz, Ph.D.) is a world-renowned scholar in religious studies, spirituality, and psychology. He directs the Edinburgh Institute for Advanced Learning (www.eial.org) and for many years was co-chair of the Mysticism Group of the American Academy of Religion. In 1982, with the Rev. Tasnim Fernandez, he co-founded the International Network of the Dances of Universal Peace. Shaykh Saadi has authored many books including The Sufi Book of Life and A Little Book of Sufi Stories.
