On the 12th of March 2022, LMS Duchess of Sutherland ran her first railtour over the S&C in 5 years. The tour ran from Tyseley to Carlisle, Sutherland joining at Hellifield but taking the tour as far as Crewe on the return journey.
We see The Duchess preparing for the day ahead at Hellifield, being prepped in greyish conditions. The next shot is at Selside in blustery conditions, but she performs well, climbing up the Long Drag. Our final shot of her is at Settle Station, just as the last of the daylight had left us, leaving darkness and only her light let us know she was approaching.
We saw the Spectacular Settle and Carlisle Tour, hauled by 67005 and 67006, passing Long Preston on its return run to London as a bonus. A friendly toot of the horn and a wave from the driver were much appreciated. All in all, a grand day out!
