In this video I show how to make a paddle strop with SUPERNATURAL Veg Tan Leather from ROCKY MOUNTAIN LEATHER SUPPLY. This was a 3 sqft of 9/10oz leather. panel. As you can see with this size you can make several strops. That way you can utilize several types of compounds and if using diamond compounds in different grits to match the level of sharpness you desire. I always like to use a bare strop in the final process. I like to use the LEATHER LUBE conditioner. The strop can be used dry but in time leather will dry out without some type of leather conditioner. Neatsfoot oil is also a great product to use. I have used it on a hanging Latigo strop for years. BTW, the KNAFS Lander 2 Tanto used to cut this leather was as sharp after cutting this leather as it was before. I had stropped it with 200,000 Diamond Compound (50% concentration) from Tech Diamond Tools. These panels can be purchased in 1, 2 and 3 sqft sizes.
