This ancient Lakhey Mask Dance was performed at the 43rd Edmonton Heritage Festival (an annual festival of Canadian multiculturalism), in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada at the Nepalese Pavilion, Hawrelak Park on August 5, 2018.
This dance performance was one of the presentations of Newa Cultural Society of Alberta (NCSA), a local non-profit organization to practice, promote and preserve Newa Cultural Heritage (language, literature, arts and culture) in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Dr. Hemanta Joshi is the founding president of NCSA (www.ncsacanada.com ).
Mr. Birendra Piya and Mr. Sarad Chitrakar performed as Lakheys. Similarly, Dr. Pawan Nyachhyon, Dr. Kishor Shrestha and Mr. Om Sharma played the Dhimay. Dr. Deepesh Shrestha, Mr. Rohan Tandukar and Mr. Siddhartha Chitrakar played the Bhusya instruments.
