Oeschinensee Switzerland - endless nature beauty

Описание: I visited the magical Oeschinensee on a hot summer day, escaping the city for a much-needed mountain adventure. From Bern, it took me just an hour on the very first train to Kandersteg, and by 6:45 a.m. I was already setting off from the station with the trail almost entirely to myself. The quiet was absolute — only a handful of early risers were out, so I had the rare chance to soak in the solitude of the Alps.

It wasn’t until the higher part of the trail, near the viewpoints where everyone stops for photos, that I began to see more hikers. In the early morning light, the sun was still hiding behind the mountains. Since I was heading east, directly into the rising sun, I first chose to wander along the lower trail by the lake, slowly making my way upward. By the time I reached the mountain pass and the hut, the sun finally spilled over the peaks, bathing everything in golden light. Along with the sunshine came more people, but the views more than made up for it.

In total, the hike took me about six hours, including plenty of pauses to rest, breathe deeply, and simply admire the surroundings. I covered roughly 19 kilometers on a circular route. Because one section of the trail (which normally connects from near the gondolas back to town) was closed, I had to retrace my steps from the gondolas to the lake and then back to Kandersteg the same way I had come. It added to the distance, but honestly — with views like that, I didn’t mind one bit.
