We have booked a family vacation to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico 2 months ago before the new COVID19 travel regulation came out on January 26th.

In this video we will give you a little overview on what went on and how we got our Covid testing in order to get back to USA.

When entering the airport in Mexico, they ask you to fill out a form stating that you do not have any COVID symptoms, that you weren’t exposed to COVID and that no one around was sick.

When we got to our resort, the first thing we wanted to find out was where can we get tested and how much it costs.

Thankfully, our resort out all our fears away, as they said that they offer on site testing right here inside of our resort, and to top it all of it is free for the resort guests.

So 72hours before our flight back to USA, we all had to go and get tested. They only had one medical person in the room. He was covered from head to toe in his PPE. He called us each one by one to get tested.

The test itself last only a few seconds. You have to sit in a chair, tilt you head back, and he inserts a thin swab inside your nose. Once he takes it out he puts it in the second half of the test swab, and the results are there within minutes.We all got negative results.

If you do get tested positive for Covid, then they will perform a second test for you that is more thorough. If that test comes back positive as well you have two choices: leave the resort and find your own place to stat, or they move you to a special room within the resort and it is free for you for the 2 weeks of self quarantine. Of course you can’t leave the room. You can only order room service. If you wish to have family members stay with you, then you have to pay for them, but it will be a prorated charge.

Once the two weeks are done, you will do a repeat test, and once you get negative results you are good to travel back.

We all got our official paperwork stating that none of us have Covid19. We got asked for this paperwork multiple times in airport before leaving Mexico, and of course in the USA when you have to go though the customs.

To sum it up, if you don’t have your testing results, they won’t even let you leave the airport where you are flying from.

Our experience with all of this was very smooth, and we are thankful to our resort for making all this as simple as possible.
