Today I’m going to share a very special and comforting Indian recipe with you—creamy Matar Paneer, just like restaurant style, but made with love at home. There is something so magical about paneer and peas in a rich, creamy gravy. It reminds me of family dinners, soft rotis on the table, and that beautiful aroma filling the whole kitchen.
For this recipe, I used 300 grams of paneer and 50gm of green peas. For the creamy base, I took one cup of milk, 10 cashew nuts, some fresh ginger, and two tomatoes. I ground the cashew nuts, tomatoes, and ginger together to make a smooth, fine paste. This paste is the secret to a rich and silky gravy, just like you get in Indian restaurants.
First, I heated some oil in a pan and added a dry red chili and cumin seeds. When they started crackling, I poured the ground masala paste into the pan. I stirred it slowly and let it cook nicely. Then I started adding the milk little by little, stirring continuously so the gravy stays smooth and creamy. I added the whole cup of milk slowly, and you can see how beautiful and creamy the gravy becomes. If you want an even richer taste, you can replace milk with thick cream—it tastes absolutely delicious.
I boiled the green peas in a pressure cooker with just one whistle so they stayed soft but not mushy. Then I added those peas to the gravy. After that, I cut the paneer into cube pieces and gently added them to the gravy. I let it cook for a few minutes so the paneer absorbed all the flavors. And just like that, our homemade Matar Paneer was ready.
