In Part 1 of this multi-part GeekTuned road trip series, we begin a 2,800 km, 7-day drive from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok to attend Das Treffen X — with four cars and some of Southeast Asia’s best driving roads.
This episode covers Day 1, driving from KL to Krabi, including the Malaysia–Thailand border crossing. We walk through the required documentation, procedures, and practical tips for crossing by car, based on real experience. .
Along the way, we also share hotel and restaurant stops we used, for anyone planning a similar route. Days 2 and 3 are spent relaxing in Krabi before the journey continues.
