De aanval op Oekraïne is niet alleen een militaire agressie, maar een aanval op menselijke waardigheid, zelfbeschikking en vrede. Deze oorlog, begonnen door het regime van Vladimir Putin, heeft onschuldige burgers tot doelwit gemaakt en miljoenen mensen hun huis, hun veiligheid en soms hun toekomst ontnomen. Dit mag niet normaal worden. Dit mag niet vergeten worden.

Met deze track wil ik aandacht vragen voor het onrecht dat nog altijd voortduurt. De wereld kan en mag niet wegkijken. Vrijheid is geen vanzelfsprekendheid — het is iets wat beschermd moet worden, overal waar het wordt bedreigd. Landen, leiders en mensen moeten blijven opstaan tegen onderdrukking en agressie. Alleen door eenheid, vastberadenheid en solidariteit kan deze oorlog eindigen en kan Oekraïne de vrede terugkrijgen die het verdient.

“Rise for the Fallen” is mijn muzikale bijdrage aan dat verlangen naar rechtvaardigheid, herstel en hoop. Voor iedereen die zijn stem kwijt is — dit nummer is voor jullie.
