XpressMats: How to Design a Custom Mat

Описание: The first decision you need to make when designing your own custom logo mat is which type of mat do you want to choose? We have lots of different options, and for each option we have a page full of details. There's even a video for each kind of option. So take a look around and figure out which type is best for you.

Each type has their own design wizard, which is very easy to use, and they're actually all very similar. So for example, we’ll opt for the water hog logo inlay. The first thing you'll notice is the list of different mat background colors, unless it's not already specified in your design.

Number one: select mat size. We have standard sizes, and also custom sizes are available. One option you have is for the backing. If this mat is going on a carpeted surface or something that's uneven, then choose a cleated backing. It actually has little rubber nubs that help grab onto the surface. Or if it's going to go someplace where there's tile or wood, or someplace smooth, choose a smooth backing. That's optimal for making sure the mat stays put. For this, we'll do a cleated backing, and go to step two, which is quantity. Step three is orientation. It can be landscape or portrait.

Step four is where you actually send us your artwork. If you click the first button, that means you will email us the artwork later. Or if you click the other button, you have the option of uploading the artwork during the order process. We accept different kinds of artwork files – PDF is great, but choose whichever one gives you the best quality picture.

Step five is mat color. We offer several kinds mat color backgrounds. Or if it's specified in the artwork, you don't have to worry about this at all. If you have any special instructions, they go in step six, and click “add to cart.”

All of our mats go through a proofing process, so once you've ordered it, a customer service representative will contact you either with a proof, if you've already uploaded the artwork, or with an email with a request for the artwork, and you can send it in. No mats get printed until you have exactly what you want, and we have graphic designers on staff who are happy to help with this process, completely free of charge.
