About YZF R15 V3
The Yamaha R15 changed the 150cc segment in the Indian market the way the CBZ did when it was launched. It was an everyday motorcycle that could genuinely be used as a trackday tool. The second version of the R15 traded practicality for more focused performance, but the advent of the KTM RC200 meant that a far better performance was available for the sportbike enthusiasts at a similar price. The R15 Version 3.0 reduces that gap significantly with technology. On the list is now a BS6 engine with a few more ccs, but featuring variable valve timing which takes the maximum power output to nearly 18.3bhp with a peak torque output of 14.1Nm. It also gets all-LED lamps and an all-digital LCD instrument cluster that displays a wealth of information, including when the Variable Valve Actuation switches to the different camshaft profile.
While the global model gets goodies like upside down forks, the domestic version features conventional telescopic forks to keep the costs in check. The pillion seat seems to be positioned a little lower, at least visually, which should address some of the pillion complaints. The rear side panels have a Ducati Panigale-style gap which looks attractive when viewed from behind. Grab handles for the pillion have also been cleverly integrated, which was given a miss in the Version 2.0. The motorcycle features disc brakes at both ends and is now equipped with dual-channel ABS as standard equipment. Meanwhile, with the BS6 version, the motorcycle now features a radial tyre as standard for the rear, side-stand engine cut-off switch and dual-tone horns.
The R15 Version 3.0 BS6 is available in four colour shades of Racing Blue, Thunder Grey, Darknight, and Metallic Red.

Yamaha R15 V4 Price in India:
The Yamaha YZF-R15 V4 Metallic Red and Dark Knight variants have been priced at Rs 1,79,400 and Rs 1,80,400 respectively. The Racing Blue version carries a price tag of Rs 1,84,400 while R15M sets you back by Rs 1,90,400. The exclusive Yamaha R15M World GP 60th Edition is priced at Rs 1,91,800, while the MotoGP Edition will set you back by Rs 1,92,400 (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
Yamaha R15 V4 Features:
The fourth generation of the R15 is loaded to the brim with features. It gets a revised fascia featuring a new Bi-functional LED headlamp flanked by LED DRLs, and a new YZF-R1-inspired digital instrument console with Yamaha's Y-Connect app. The display gets modes (Street and Track), along with a lap timer, gear position indicator, call/message alerts, mobile battery status, connection status, average fuel efficiency and last parked location. You can also access information like instantaneous fuel economy, intake air temperature, eco indicator, degree of throttle opening and rate of acceleration.
The R15 V4 Racing Blue, ‘M’ and R15M World GP 60th Edition take things a step further by offering traction control and a quickshifter as standard equipment. You could, however, also opt for a quickshifter as an add on, on the base variants.
Yamaha R15 V4 Engine:
Performance remains virtually unchanged. The R15 V4 continues to use the same 155cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine. However, it's been detuned to produce 18.4PS, 0.2 less than the older V3. Torque on the other hand remains unchanged at 14.2Nm. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox featuring a slip and assist clutch.
Yamaha R15 V4 Suspension & Brakes:
The R15’s hardware gets a massive boost thanks to the new USD fork. The rest of the bike is pretty much the same features a deltabox frame, a preload adjustable monoshock, disc brakes on both the ends with dual-channel ABS. The R15 V4 gets a rear radial tyre as a standard fitment, but the front continues to have a bias-ply unit.
The Yamaha R15 V4’s direct rivals include the KTM RC 125 and the KTM RC 200.
