This video shows step by step how I made a wooden burnishing tool on the lathe. I'm not a leather worker but this was a request from my cobbler friend Juan.
We attached the tool to a 3/4 HP 8" harbor freight bench grinder.
The blank is three pieces of 1" thick bigleaf maple and about 10" long. Then jointed to square two edges and run it through the table saw at 3 3/4" square. Cut the ends on the compound miter saw for a blank ready to be lathe turned.
The holes drilled with forstner bits and one drill bit in this order.
3/4" forsnter.
5/8" forstner
1/2" drill bit for threads.
Make sure you measure the tool to know how deep to drill each step.
