The US, UK, France, and Germany denounced Iran’s “inadequate” responses to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
The IAEA had previously called on Tehran to clarify undeclared technical modification in its nuclear program
The request came after reports of a change in the operating mode for enriching uranium to 60% in the Fordo underground plant
The IAEA had detected significant changes to two centrifuge cascades that were not declared by Tehran
Western countries said this change was “inconsistent with Iran’s obligations”
“Such lack of required notification compromises the Agency’s ability to maintain a rapid detection capability on Iranian nuclear facilities”
Tehran has been producing 60% enriched uranium at Fordo at least since November 2022
Under the 2015 nuclear deal, it was supposed to cap uranium enrichment at 3.67%
