Our trip to Chopta has started from Lansdowne and today our vlog is till Devprayag. Devprayag is a very sacred confluence where the Bhagirathi River and the Alaknanda River meet and from this sacred confluence, Mother Ganga is formed.
Considered one of the most sacred places in Hinduism, it is believed that Lord Rama performed penance here. It is also the winter seat of the priests from the Badrinath Dham.
Location and Access: Located in the Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. It is easily accessible on the way to the Char Dham Yatra and is about 75 km from Rishikesh.
Visitor Tips: The spot involves walking down numerous steps (over 200) to reach the confluence point. The water is cold and the current is strong, but there are chains available for a safe, holy dip.
Best Time to Visit: March to May and mid-September to December offer pleasant weather.
