The composition is full of emotion, drama and dynamic contrasts. It gives an insight into the talent of James Barnes. The title of the overture refers to the city of Alvamar in Kansas, USA, where Barnes worked as a composer and music educator. This personal connection gives the "Alvamar Overture" additional meaning and a deeper emotional resonance.

Barnes himself is a tubist and has performed with numerous professional organizations in the United States.
His numerous compositions are frequently played in America, Europe, Japan, Taiwan and Australia. The Japanese concert band Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra has produced 3 CDs to date with works of James Barnes.

In my electone cover, this version is played at an intermediate level hence it doesn’t fully brings out the powerful dynamic original composition of the song. Even at this level, there are many orchestral instruments involved making this cover a tad difficult to play to express the many expressions and emotions of this song from the start to the sonic climax ending.

What makes a song be classified as a ‘Classical Song’ genre?
Does “Alvamar Overture” be considered a classical piece ? It uses many of the orchestral instruments with wide range of motifs and dynamic contrasts as seen in all orchestras pieces.
